Hola!
Como estan? How is life? Well about this past week. I learned A LOT! The
biggest thing I learned this week is that these next 18 months are not about
me. I always knew that it was about teaching others and inviting them to come
unto Christ, but seriously it has nothing to do with me! We taught a lesson (in
Espanol as always) this past week and it did not go as well as I had hoped. I
realized afterwards, that I did not truly love the person that we were
teaching. I am going to do better when we teach later tonight! So one thing in
the MTC is called "Teaching Resource Center" or TRC where volunteers
come and we teach them in Spanish. Most of them are members, and we do not know
anything about them before, so we go 100% off of the Spirit. We taught this
adorable little old lady named Sister Thompson. I truly wanted to help her in
anyway possible! I just prayed that the Lord would help me know what she needed
to hear. I ended up reading her Alma 7:11-12 and bearing my testimonio about
the Atonement. The Spirit was SO STRONG even though our Espanol was so simple
and probably incorrect. I learned that if you truly trust in the Lord that He
will do the teaching. Missionaries are there just to be instruments of the
Lord. We prepare and study so that when we go to teach, we can invite the
Spirit and then the Spirit truly does the teaching. It is the same in
everyone's life. No matter how eloquent the speaker, it is the Spirit that will
teach you all things you need to know and bear testimony about the Savior and
help you feel the love the Savior has for you. The MTC is maravilloso, and I am
so blessed to be here!!! On another note, I lost my CTR ring this week. I put
it in my cubby thing during gym with my tag and forgot to take it out and the
next day it was gone!!! Don't worry thought, I am pretty sure I can choose the
right without it on my finger. Also, Thursday my watch stopped working so I
borrowed Hermana Adams' watch for a couple of days and magically my reloj
(watch) began to work again. I don't know what happened, but I am thankful.
Next time I will not buy a watch that needs to last me 18 months at Walmart (or
at least not the very cheapest one haha). We had a devotional on Tuesday where
Elder Paul V. Johnson of the seventy spoke to us. He talked about being
completely obedient and how obedience blesses us with power. We cannot be
powerful missionaries without being exactly obedient. I am trying to be more
obedient because of it, and it makes me read the missionary handbook more so
that I know what the rules are. The Lord gives us commandments to empower us,
not to deprive us. I KNOW THIS IS TRUE! Obedience gives us more options,
choices, blessings, power, and a greater abundance of the Spirit! It is not ok
to say, "well just this once I am going to bend the rules. Just this once
I am going to go even though I know technically not old enough." I am
thankful for the choices I made when I was younger because I KNOW the Lord has
blessed me! Elder Johnson also talked about submitting our will to the Lord.
Jesus Christ submitted ALL of his will to the Lord! Obedience is a way we
submit our will to the Lord! I know the Lord has a plan for each of us! We are
HIS children and he has a vested interest in our welfare. In fact, he has said,
"And this is my work and my glory to bring to pass the immortality and
eternal life of man." (Moses 1:39) I know the love of God is real, and
that he watches out for each of his children. I am so blessed to be able to
serve the Lord for 18 months, and everyday here I wake up and look at my tag
and think, (I'M A MISSIONARY!!!!) The Gospel is true! I know it! Stay strong
and do what is right! You will never regret doing the right thing!!! I LOVE YOU
ALL!!
