Querida familia mía,
how is everyone doing? So the school year ends this week huh? Congratulations to all the kids ending their school year!!! That sounds like lots of fun! Congrats on graduation sunday Benjamin! I hope that yall stay cool up there in the states!!! Happy memorial day!
This week was really fun! we had our first rain here in Santiago (winter is when it rains here). It really is not too bad, just cold and a constant medium rain. With boots and an umbrella, we stay basically dry. We went to visit a family in our ward and we left our umbrellas outside. It was out last visit of the day. When we left we just took our umbrellas and immediately opened them up without waiting to see what was on them. We got home, put our open umbrellas up to dry and went to plan. My companion forgot something and went out to see the umbrella in the living room and screamed, ewwwww, that´s gross (it is the best because she does not know too much english but she has learned that phrase from me haha)! On top of her umbrella was one of the biggest snails i have ever seen! I will send a picture of it. We named it Sebastian. we went outside to get rid of it, and she did not want to touch it so i took it off and put it in the dirt. We think that Sebastian hopped on when we were at our last appointment, but we do not reallyknow how much time the snail was hitchhiking with us haha. It was fun. Another weird thing that happened that day was we were walking in the street and we saw someone from English class and we said hi. She had her brother with her, and we asked him if he had talked to missionaries before. He said that he had and that "Cook" told him that she spoke English. He then called her and gave me the phone. I answered the phone and said, "Hola, this is Hermana Taylor" and the person on the other line just said HOla. It was a little confusing for a minute and at the end she said, "What is your name" and I answered, "Hermana Taylor" and she said, "Wait, I am Hermana Taylor too." She is in the Santiago South mission and her old companion is Hermana Cook. The missionaries set up an appointment with this guy and we left. What are the chances that some random guy gives me his phone in the street and on the other end is another Hermana Taylor! It made us laugh too.
This week we went to visit a new investigator named Gabriela. She talked to us only because she wanted us to visit her teenage daughter that is a little rebelious. We ended up talking to us instead and she listened. We invited her to a Ward family home evening on wednesday, and she actually came!!! No one else came but she did even with all of the rain. We visited her later on in the week and a new light came into her countenance. Hopefully she can keep progressing so that she can grow this light that she has.
This week in Church, our mission president came to our sacrament meeting. This week NO ONE came to sacrament meeting. THey were sick or for some reason did not come. Figures right? ONe investigator, Gladys, came late and never entered the chapel. SHe stayed outside. But, miracles happen for those that have patience. We were praying so hard this week so that our investigators could come to church, especially a couple named Jorge and Maria Teresa. We passed by their house before and they said that they would come, and we just waited. During relief society, THEY SHOWED UP!!!!! We ended up giving them a tour of the church with the bishop and they loved it!!! Jorge is super baptist and he commented on how our church is so well organized, with classes for every age group and all these organizations to help meet the different needs. It is true, I never really realized that other churches are not organized like our church. Sometimes I am a little ignorant haha. Also in church we saw another miracle. Gladys, we have been teaching her for about 7 months her husband and daughter are members but she is pretty stubborn and still is not, came and she always stays with her 2 year old son in nursery and leaves when it is time for relief society. When we were waiting for relief society to start, she came out of the nursery with her son (he is a momma´s boy) and her son miraculous ran off with his dad to priesthood. He almost always is with his mom and does not like to leave her side so it was a miracle that he left, and stayed with his dad. She did not really have an excuse not to go to relief society so she went. In relief society the spirit was really strong and she received revelation. She basically accepted to be baptized after they get married in July, and she even said herself that she was putting up a barrier before. We were praying for a long time for a miracle with her and it looks like the Lord answers. We just have to be patient, really really faithfully patient haha. I know that he Lord answers the faithful prayers, just in His own time. We were praying for this miracle with Gladys for MONTHS and He answered yesterday. We can receive revelation every week in church if we are prepared.
Sometimes the Lord tries our patience, but there are always miracles waiting if we wait patiently with faith. Pray with faith!!!! He answers!!! I love yall a lot!
love
